Overview

PRO-FORM Pro-SPLINT is the premium-tier SPLINT MATERIAL in the KEYSTONE PRO-FORM line — engineered for surgical splints and hard occlusal splints where dimensional stability and bond compatibility matter most. The Pro-SPLINT formulation delivers higher stiffness than standard SPLINT Sheets while maintaining excellent clarity for clinician visibility through the appliance.

Available in standard SPLINT thicknesses, 5×5 inch Sheets, 25-per-package. Compatible with every mainstream vacuum-forming machine.

• Stiff, CLEAR formulation. Holds form under occlusal load — ideal for hard splints, surgical splints, and orthodontic retainers.
• Acrylic-compatible. Self-cure and light-cure dental acrylics bond reliably to the surface, allowing hybrid build-ups and customization.
• Wide thickness portfolio. .020" thin retainers up through .120" hard occlusal splints, all from the same product family.
• Predictable heat-pull behavior. Drapes cleanly without excessive over-stretch or thin spots at occlusal contacts.

MATERIAL & regulatory

PRO-FORM SPLINT MATERIAL is an intra-oral medical-grade thermoplastic manufactured by KEYSTONE Industries. The MATERIAL is biocompatible per relevant ISO 10993 evaluations and FDA-registered for use in custom dental appliances. Supplied non-sterile; appliances must be cleaned and disinfected before patient delivery.

How to use

Heating & forming. Place the sheet centered in the vacuum-former chuck. Bring the heater to working temperature — for stiff SPLINT MATERIAL, typical heat-soak is 6–8 minutes on a standard lab vacuum-former (longer than soft EVA Sheets, because the MATERIAL is denser). Drape down when the sheet bows 3–5 mm. Activate vacuum immediately. Do not wait until the sheet sags more than 1 cm or it is already overheated and will form thin spots.

Trimming & finishing. Score with a sharp blade and snap; or trim with a fissure carbide on a slow-speed handpiece. Smooth the gingival border. For occlusal build-ups, etch the surface with a sandblaster (50 µm aluminum oxide) before bonding self-cure acrylic.
